Pilgrimage Coffee
This site, https://pilgrimage.coffee, has been created with the intent of sharing my experiences with coffee at home and around the world.
My name is Jeremy Olachea, I’m a coffee enthusiast and home coffee roaster. I’ve been drinking coffee for as long as I can remember. My mom tells me, that as a child, I would sit in her lap and enjoy the sipping her black coffee, though I don’t remember doing this. Most of my life the coffee that I’ve been given or I have purchased is probably NOT the high quality coffee that I find myself seeking out now. Now, whenever preparing to travel, I scour the internet to try and find some cafe or coffee shop, that is willing to serve me a pour over or at least sell me a bag of single origin coffee that’s been roasted well.
This change came about when my mother in-law gifted me something that would change my life, a stove top coffee roaster. This little roaster was the catalyst that triggered my desire to understand coffee better. I’ve progressed from the stove top coffee roaster to a small (400g) drum roaster with proper airflow and a gas heat source.
Coffee has become an obsession and seeking out the best coffees wherever I go is part of that obsession. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find anyone talking about sourcing the best locally roasted coffee, pour overs, immersion brews, or aeropress coffees while traveling. There’s plenty of people talking about where to get your next espresso or sugary milk based espresso drinks but what about those of us who love the these other methods of extraction?
My goal is to produce detailed reviews of coffee roasters, cafes, shops, and oddities worth the pilgrimage.
